Hey everyone I was wondering what would be a good team suggestion for a play through of Soul Silver. The Elite Four in HeartGold SoulSilver are positioned within the Indigo Plateau in Kanto.

Include your recommended Pokemon in your answer each with recommended moves for use. A starter Pokémon is the very base of an effective team. There are three for HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Choose Chikorita the Grass-type if you want your starter to deal primarily with the Defense stats and status conditions. This Pokémon is excellent for setting up Reflects and Light Screens and also learns a few powerful moves at later levels. Typhlosion -whichever starter you chose.
I chose Typhlosion because heshe is probably the best starter and has an awesome move variety. ChikoritaBayleef and Meganium are crap. And TotodileCrocanaw and Feraligator are a good choice also but there are many other good water types in the game.

So I would replace Onix and Togepi since you cant get a Shiny Stone without trading until the post-game and Togetic on its own is not that good for Slowpoke-Slowbro and Heracross which you can get from trees in Azalea Town once you get to the Headbutt Tutor in Ilex Forest. Thinking about adding a. Sucker Punch though physical can be good for priority. Hidden power can be good for coverage.
For your team as a whole Id highly suggest changing a few members. Half of your team is fire and you have two dark types. Mightyena isnt the greatest but for in game he should be okay.
Also be sure to invest in your pokemons complimentary stats. Most pokemon of those two types are fast and have good special defense plus great special attack. I know about the split but most of their moves are special moves.
Anyway a dark pokemon that is fast can not only get dark moves but it gets STAB Same Type Attack boost which multiplies the power of attacks of the pokemons types by 15. It depends on what role its filling. Pidgeot suffers from Joatmon syndrome which stands for Jack of all trades master of none. Its stats and typing allow it to do a lot of things decently but nothing spectacularly.
If you are doing a play thro. Pokémon Heart Gold Soul Silver like the games before it have gyms dotted around the region for you to challenge. Each gym has a specific leader and focuses on a specific type.
